Five LEGIT sistas share their most hilarious road-trip tales.

Rachel (25) from Pretoria describes how she and her friend Liezel got a flat tyre just outside George when they were en route to UCT in their second year. 'We didn’t know how to change it so we had to flag down cars passing by but no-one would stop! Eventually Liezel took off her top and stood there on the roadside in her bra! Suddenly three cars stopped in a row. Our tyre was changed in five minutes flat!'
Khayakazi (24) and her boyfriend, Mandla, were heading to Durban from Jo’burg for a seaside holiday. As they approached a toll road at Mariannhill they realised that neither of them had cash or credit cards to pay. 'There was nothing we could do,' she says. 'So we took an alternative route and got so lost, we ended up back at the toll plaza two hours later! After hearing our story, they let us through and we promised to pay on our way back to Jozi.'
Priyanka (19) remembers a trip to the Transkei with her family. 'We had our family poodle Mimi in the car with us that year. We stopped and put Mimi on her lead and tied her to a tree while we ate,' she says. 'We finished, got back into the car and carried on driving. After about 10km we realized that we’d left Mimi behind! We did a U-turn and sped back, terrified that she’d been taken. Luckily she was exactly where we’d left her.'
Giselle (20) and her sister took a trip up the West Coast heading for Namibia, and were passing through Elands Bay when they stopped for fuel and met a couple of hunky surfers. 'We started chatting and decided to set up camp at their spot for the night,' she says. 'One night led to five and we never made it to Namibia! We had our holiday right there. It was the best week ever.'
Melissa (24) and her boyfriend, Colin, were on their way to a romantic spot in the Drakensberg for a long weekend. 'We booked this divine cabin the mountains and were nearly there when Colin needed to wee,' she says. 'We pulled over and he had his pants around his ankles when a busload of school children came around the corner. There he stood, mortified. They were laughing and pointing, and he nearly died of embarrassment. It was hilarious!'
