SHADES OF AUTUMN
Autumn might make the outdoors look a little dull but it’s no excuse to feel or look dowdy or washed out. The season is livening up with bright shades matched with deep, rich neutrals that are infused with loads of colour and texture for a look that has everything going for it.
The season is perfect for mixing styles and layering which means you can be playful with your favourite styles and even get a little extra use out of your favourite summer items. Light, chiffon or cotton layers can be reinforced with textured knits, chic jackets and trench coats to give you a look that is dynamic and brimming with personal style.
Layered textures can be enhanced even more with colour and with the deep shades of blue, yellow and orange that are all the rage this season, it’s not difficult to mix and match. You can pair sunny yellow or bright tangerine with vivid blue or deep, rich shades of brown for a look that’s sophisticated and infused with colour.
Coloured tights are a great item that brings together utility as well as style and gives you additional options for livening up your look. You can pair black and white basics with a pair of red tights for a classic look with a difference and top it off with heeled or flat brogues for a classy, sleek style.
For those outer layers; textured knits, trench coats and blazers are must have items this season. Knitwear is the perfect casual layer – alternate between chunky, textured knits for those cooler days and sleeker, lighter knits for milder weather.
The trench coat is the ultimate outer layer for covering up any outfit, and it really does work with anything. A classic, knee-length military style trench will keep you going all season long and can be worn over anything from denim to tunics.
For footwear, it’s definitely time to break out your favourite boots. Ankle boots in particular are a versatile and stylish seasonal style with loads of variety – try a slouchy style over slim black tights for a bohemian look, or wear lace up ankle boots with a midi skirt and blazer for a sophisticated, chic look.
